Safe migration

We will migrate your website and database to a new server without risks or downtime

Moving to another host, changing CMS platform (replatforming), or database migration are critical operations for any online business. With an incorrect approach, there is a high risk of losing customer orders, stopping the site operation for several hours, or taking a critical drop in Yandex and Google search rankings due to link structure changes.

We carry out seamless migration of projects of any complexity. Our methodology excludes data loss. First, we deploy an exact copy of your project in a staging environment on a new server, perform a complete check of file checksums (MD5) and record counts in database tables, and only switch traffic after final tests.

For high-load projects with a continuous flow of orders, we configure **real-time database replication**, reducing technical downtime during DNS switching to virtually zero.

  • Website migration between hostings, VPS, and dedicated servers
  • Database migration of any volume (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse)
  • CMS platform change with full import of products, clients, and orders
  • Preserving the website's SEO structure and setting up 301 redirects
  • Migration of corporate email without loss of email archive and DNS configuration

How we preserve customer transactions

In online stores, orders are placed every minute. We do not migrate the database live. We switch the site to maintenance mode (Read-Only) for 5 minutes, perform a final differential database migration, and instantly switch gateways, eliminating missed payments.

Our rules

Three golden rules of safe migration

We do not rely on luck; we use proven checklists and automated scripts.

Mandatory Staging environment

We never upload files directly to the production server. First, a test copy (Staging) is deployed on a new server. We verify the correct operation of all scripts, page loading speed, email dispatch, and integrations.

And only after you personally check the Staging site, we plan the live migration.

SEO position protection and 301 redirects

Changing CMS almost always leads to a change in page URLs. To prevent Yandex and Google crawlers from throwing 404 errors, we draw up a complete redirect map. Each old link redirects to a new equivalent.

Search page equity is transferred to the new system, eliminating organic traffic drops.

Preliminary DNS preparation

DNS server updates at providers can take up to 24 hours. To make the switch instantaneous, 2 days before migration we lower the TTL (Time to Live) value of your domain records to 300 seconds.

After switching the domain, providers will update the IP address in 5 minutes, minimizing downtime.

Stages

How project migration is carried out

Step-by-step migration workflow from backup creation to domain switching.

01

Backup and audit

We create full archive copies of files and database dumps. We analyze the configuration of the current web server (PHP, modules, software versions) and the new server.

02

Staging deployment

We import files and database to the new server under a test technical domain. We configure the environment and test project functionality.

03

Writing migration scripts

When switching CMS, we write custom SQL and PHP scripts to transform the database: we migrate users while preserving password hashes, catalogs, and order history.

04

TTL reduction and preparation

We reduce the caching time of the domain's DNS records. Configure SSL certificates on the new server in advance so that the website opens via HTTPS immediately after the migration.

05

Final production migration

We switch the old website to Read-Only mode. We migrate data accumulated during testing, verify table and file checksums, and switch the domain IP.

06

Post-migration audit

We check form submissions, payment processing, cron jobs. We scan the site for broken links and 404 errors. We monitor load on the new server for 7 days.

Technologies

Data Migration Tools

We use high-performance console utilities for fast transfer of terabytes of data.

rsync & SSH compression

Professional file synchronization utilities. Allow transferring gigabytes of images via compressed streams over an encrypted SSH channel, downloading only changed files.

MySQL / PostgreSQL replication

Database replication mechanisms. Used for on-the-fly transaction mirroring, allowing the new server to have an up-to-date DB copy down to the millisecond.

DNS BIND & Cloudflare API

Domain name management systems. They allow quick management of resource records (A, CNAME, MX, TXT) and configuration of CDN proxying for security and speed.

Project Migration Pricing

The price depends on the size of the database, complexity of CMS replatforming, and requirements for a seamless migration.

FAQ

FAQ about website migration

Afraid of losing clients due to website downtime? Write to us — we will plan the migration for nighttime minimum user activity and execute it seamlessly.

  • Will the website be unavailable during migration to another hosting?

No, while preparing the site for migration, it remains fully accessible to your visitors at the old address. We deploy a copy of the project on the new server, debug it, test it, and only redirect the domain after complete readiness. For some time (while DNS servers are updating at internet providers), some users will reach the old server and some the new one. Both servers will run in parallel, eliminating downtime.
  • How to maintain search engine rankings when migrating to a new CMS?

Changing a CMS system often involves changing internal page addresses (URLs). If a Yandex or Google crawler visits an old address and sees a 404 error (page not found), the page's position in search results will reset. To prevent this, we parse all indexed site links, create an "old URL — new URL" mapping table, and set up 301 Redirect rules on the new server. The crawler follows the old link, is instantly redirected to the new page, and merges them in the index without losing positions.
  • How do you guarantee that buyer or order data won't be lost?

First, before starting any work, we create a full file archive and database snapshot and download them to a local secure drive. Second, after migration, we run automated verification scripts: we compare md5 checksums of all transferred files and count the exact number of rows in each database table (users, orders, products, transactions). Third, we do not turn off the old server for at least 7 days after the move, so that in case of force majeure, we always have access to the original working data.
  • How long does domain DNS propagation take?

DNS update time depends on your visitor's Internet service provider and domain zone settings (TTL). Typically, this process takes from 2 to 24 hours. To speed up the switch, two days before migration, we reduce the TTL parameter to the minimum possible (usually 5 minutes). In this case, providers will request the current server IP address much more frequently, and switching to the new server for 99% of users will happen almost instantly right after changing domain settings.
